Welcome!

This is the story of a boy named Daniel and a girl named Ciera, currently living together in Melbourne, Australia. Ciera came from America to be with Daniel, and is in Australia on a 12-month Working Holiday Visa. Together, they're having heaps of fun, and documenting their experiences along the way. This blog is just a glimpse into their life together.

Please comment! We'd love to hear what you have to say :).

Week 16 together – 4 months!

Non-stop Happiness

Oh snap! Daniel and I didn’t even notice that we’ve been together for 4 months (this year) until I started working on this post! That is so awesome! This is the longest we’ve physically been around each other, yet we’ve known each other for over two years. 😀

I don’t have much to update you with this week. Unlike most other weeks, we’ve spent our days working and then relaxing at home. We met for lunch a few days, which was nice. We also went out today just to say we did something. I got a new umbrella and we got some LOL to try. It’s basically just carbonated juice and it’s really good. :) Other than that, we’ve been laying around the house, working on the computers, watching movies… the good stuff! 😛 Read the rest of this post…

Week 15 together

We are so in love <3

Another amazing week together! Every day we’re together is a great day, and every week we have great fun, and this week was no exception (of course).

Not really related to me and Ciera, but on Wednesday, I had to go to work early. I work at a software development company, and our system is hosted on the Internet. Whenever new development work is going out to beta, the developers responsible for the work have to be there at 7 AM to help with deployment. This is so any bugs/issues can be worked out before people start their business day. Most of the time things are fine, and this day was no exception. The great thing about starting work two hours earlier is finishing two hours earlier. I also didn’t take lunch break (which is usually an hour), so actually finished three hours earlier than usual. After work, Ciera and I went off to K-Mart since they were having a DVD sale. We bought Land Before Time 1 2 and 3, Milo and Otis, I Am Sam, and Fern Gully. Each of these was only $9, which was great.

On Thursday, Ciera was working in the afternoon, and so she could meet me at work once I had finished. When we met up, we were going to go to a different restaurant along Lygon Street, but couldn’t really choose any, so we went to Papa Gino’s again. Read the rest of this post…

Week 14 together!

Our shadows

It’s been another week! This week has been one of the less active ones, though. Daniel and I really didn’t do much during the week except work and being lazy. We did manage to get some important things done and enjoy time with each other.

On Wednesday, Louie had to go to the vet. It was time for him to get vaccines, microchipped and desexed. I took the day off so I’d be able to transport him to and from the vet. That probably wasn’t the best idea. The whole day I was so worried about Louie and I didn’t have Daniel to cheer me up because he was busy at work! Louie ended up having a great visit and was acting like himself as soon as we got him home!

We had a semi-laid back weekend. On Saturday, we spent the first half of the day just laying around and exploring the internets. The second half was spent on a trip to IKEA and K-Mart for some clothes racks so we could Read the rest of this post…

Week 13 together – Melbourne Show!

We had such a great time celebrating our second year of friendship!

This week was awesome! Well, actually, I can’t remember too much about what happened during the week, but the weekend was great! We went to the Melbourne Show, moved stuff from two rooms into one room, and made some lasagna. This week, we were celebrating our “friendiversary” – Ciera and I have now known each other for two amazing years! :)

Last year, when Ciera was here (she was going back to the USA around this time last year :(), we went to the Melbourne Show, which is a fair/carnival thing that happens here in Melbourne  every year.  We went with my sister Jacinta and her friend Betty, and enjoyed it heaps. This year was no different – On Saturday, Ciera and I went to the Melbourne Show together. There was HEAPS of animals this year, a lot more than last year! Including some cute little piglets, and massive cows, and a whole range of other ones. Read the rest of this post…

Week 12 together – KITTY! :D

Under his favorite tree

WOW! It’s been another 3 months that Daniel and I have been together! That’s a total of 6 months including the time I spent with him last year :)! And next Sunday we’ll be celebrating our second ‘friendiversary’ (the 26th)! The plan is to spend time together at the Royal Melbourne Show and possibly do another special something, like dinner.

This week has been an adventure! We got a kitty! One of Jacinta‘s friends had to get rid of her cat and we’ve been wanting one for awhile so we jumped on the opportunity. His name is Louie and he is a cutie (rhyme :3)!! He was basically thrown into a new world so the whole week we’ve been trying to train him what to do here. At the beginning he was having troubles with using the litter box but he’s finally got a hang of it! We took him out the other day to explore and now he can’t get enough of it! For now he goes out on a lead so we don’t lose him. As soon we’re confident he’ll come back, he’ll get to go outside all by himself :D. Read the rest of this post…

Week 11 together!

We're awesomely cute!

Wow, the time goes so quickly when you’re having lots of fun! It’s week 11 already :o. This week was pretty good. Ciera was having some issues at work, with payroll not recording her bank details correctly. She got that fixed this week and finally got paid for the first time on Wednesday. I think it’s pretty good that she’s finally made some money of her own here in Australia. She went shopping on Friday and spent some of the money buying some new awesome stuff.

Saturday, we weren’t entirely sure what to do. Ciera thought that I needed new shoes… They’re old and broken and have holes in them but I still liked them :(. Anyways, we ended up going to DFO at South Wharf (near Docklands) to try and find some shoes. The directions the Metlink site gave us were kinda wrong and we ended up getting lost for a bit. Lucky for us, I had Google Maps installed on my phone, and we checked that to find some proper directions. We finally found the place, and now I have new shiny shoes. I’m still kinda incredibly jealous of the shoes with flashing lights that kids have – I wish they made adult versions of those! :(.  Read the rest of this post…

Week 10 together – Ciera’s first day!

Eating at Phamish after a visit to St. Kilda.

This week really wasn’t too eventful for us. Daniel worked all week and I was home all week until Thursday when I saw Daniel for lunch.

As mentioned in the title, I had my first day of work this Friday. All week I was dealing with first day jitters and all the anxiety piled up. Thursday night ended up being a bad night for both of us. I was feeling really homesick and wanting the comfort of the bed I was so used to just a couple months back. While explaining it to Daniel, we both started crying. I hate seeing him cry… He loves me so much and was worried I wanted to go home and leave him here alone, again. :( I would never, ever do that unless I absolutely had to. For instance, my visa expires and he can’t leave with me. I just wanted to share a bad moment we’ve had. Our relationship isn’t perfect but we deal with things because we are determined to be together forever.

The first day of work was nothing to worry about, but I can’t help to get the jitters :P. I had to wake up at 4:30 am to get to Melb. Central Train Station (where I worked) by 6:30. I wasn’t able to sleep that night but somehow managed to stay awake through the shift and the rest of the day. Read the rest of this post…

Week 9 together – Ciera gets a job

Cute picture of us.

Wow, week 9 already! The weeks seem to go so quickly when you’re having fun :)! This week, Ciera had her Myki training on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. By the end of Thursday, she found out that she had gotten the job! I’m so proud of her, and glad that she’s finally found a job in Australia :). Her first shift is this Friday, really really early in the morning (6:30 AM).

Friday, when I finished work for the day, we went to Papa Gino’s for dinner (yes, again). This time, we got some different food than last time (I got lasagna, and Ciera got ravioli), and it was quite delicious. I’d recommend going there to anyone looking for good Italian food! On Saturday, we went into the city to go to Lord of the Fries for lunch, and to see a Tim Burton exhibition at ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image). Read the rest of this post…

Week 8 together!

Kisses!

Wow! Daniel and I have made it through another month together! I never questioned we’d make it through but it’s still so amazing to think about. I’m really excited about next month, though. On the 26th of September it will be two years since we met online. To me, that feels more important than when we decided to be together. Life would be so much different if we never met and I know we’re both so happy we started a life together!

Anyways, let me tell you about this week. It has been really great! We’ve both managed to be pretty busy. On Monday Daniel and I went to dinner at Papa Gino’s, one of the many Italian restaurants on Lygon Street. We both got some pasta and it was delicious! We are planning on going back very soon :)! For my friends back in “The Valley”, Fazzari’s is very similar.

Tuesday, I had a Myki assessment. Before that I met up with Daniel so we could have lunch with his cousin. Read the rest of this post…

Week 7 together

Smile :D

This week, like every week, has been pretty good! Ciera wanted me to start writing blog posts instead of her doing them all the time, so I thought I should write this week’s post :P. This week has been pretty relaxing, we didn’t really do too much. It’s good to relax every so often :)

On Wednesday, I had to go to work early (7am!) which was quite hard but I managed to do it. Because I started two hours earlier than normal (my hours are normally 9 AM to 5:30 PM), I also finished two hours earlier. Ciera met me at work, and we went to Lord of the Fries for ‘lunch’, and then went to Northland Shopping Centre, where we spent the rest of the day looking at beds and other furniture (Ciera wants a new bed, they’re quite expensive though!). Saw some nice furniture that we’ll have in our own house one day! 😀

Ciera’s been continuing to look for jobs. We’ve gotten relatively desperate about looking for jobs, so much that we’ve even applied to McDonalds. Read the rest of this post…
